Built on a steep slope in the east bay hills, we avoided major engineering and changes in floor elevations by narrowing the house to 20 feet and stringing it along the length of the slope, following one of the hill’s contours. With the main views to the north and the sun to the south, judicious placement of windows provides ample access to both. The narrow floor plan allows experience of both sun and views in the main rooms of the house.
Careful attention, as
with all of our houses, was paid to energy performance and material toxicity.
